September is Open Studios time in Perthshire and a great opportunity to delve a little deeper into the creative landscape of the area, whilst also enjoying the stunning scenery en route! Having access to a creative's studio can be enlightening, inspiring and joyous. Always happy to chat through their process and share what and how they create, the artists warmly welcome visitors into their space.
11 Perthshire Artisans are taking part this year, across many of the coloured routes mapped out by Perthshire Open Studios to help you choose where to go and who to visit. This annual event runs from Saturday 31 August to Sunday 8 September and best to check the downloadable pdf brochure for individual studio opening dates/times/locations.
When we learn how something is created, understand the different stages and processes involved, see the materials and equipment first hand, we gain a new perspective, appreciation and respect for a piece of work. Getting to know who made something you love, how and where it is made, adds a particular value and can be recalled when you enjoy seeing it in your home or enjoy making a gift of it.
If you want a head start on seeing a collection of the artists work, or maybe unable to make any visits during the Open Studios Festival, the Festival Showcase opens at The Barn Gallery, The Bield, Tibbermore, just outside Perth on Saturday 24 August and runs until Sunday 8 September. Artisans and jeweller Diana Law and glass artist Jane Drysdale are two of the Artists in Residence at the Festival Showcase this year. Their individual Artisans profile pages also highlight details about their practice.
Enjoy a creative day out, finding yourself in new corners of the area and discovering beautiful artworks made here in glorious Perthshire. These are the details for the Artisans taking part.
