At Perthshire Artisans we love sharing and celebrating the stories of our members from across the area. Similarly, the stylish coffee table style magazine, We Are Makers equally enjoys sharing stories from makers, artists and craftspeople from around the globe. In Edition Twelve (released November 2024) we were excited, delighted and proud to see Perthshire Artisan Jane Drysdale feature in their beautiful publication.

As one of 11 featured artists, from as far afield as the USA, Denmark, New Zealand, Italy and Turkmenistan, it was fabulous to see 'Jane Drysdale, Glassmaker, Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland, UK' mentioned in the contents pages and beyond. The article comes from a conversation Jane had with Poppy Jarratt from Perth UNESCO City of Craft and Folk Arts and Caron Ironside from Perthshire Artisans. This incredible opportunity is thanks to UNESCO City of Craft and Folk Arts sponsoring an article in We Are Makers, ensuring that Perth and the whole area, including the Perthshire Artisans are showcasing the incredible quality of makers and craftspeople living and working throughout the shire!
The We Are Makers article about Jane is now available to view online ahead of the opening of Perth Art Gallery's GLASS exhibition on 4 April. GLASS is an exhibition celebrating the material and the makers who helped make Perthshire famous, from Monart to Caithness to Perthshire Paperweights, which when you read the article, you will discover a unique connection to Jane.
As a current Perthshire glass maker, living and working in the area today, you'll enjoy a selection of Jane's work as part of GLASS exhibition.

Perth is the UK’s only UNESCO City of Crafts and Folk Art. Known as a ‘Craftis Toun’ as far back as Medieval times, Perth has always been a hotbed of innovative crafting. Today, Perth is still home to a huge variety of crafters and artisans, many preserving historical crafts such as weaving and kiltmaking, while others are using cutting edge technologies to develop new craft methods. Perthshire Artisans exists and is dedicated and proud to support these creatives in their creative practice.
We'll share more information about GLASS once the exhibition is open to view.
